Loving God Through Obedience

Loving God Through Obedience

Many claim to love God, yet Scripture makes it clear that love for God is proven through obedience. Obedience is not legalism; it is love expressed in action.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” — John 14:15

Body: Biblical Teaching

Obedience flows from relationship.

“This is love for God: to keep His commands.” — 1 John 5:3

Jesus obeyed the Father completely.

“He became obedient to death—even death on a cross.” — Philippians 2:8

A child who trusts their parent obeys out of love, not fear. Likewise, believers obey God because they trust His wisdom and goodness.

Application
  • Examine areas of disobedience
  • Obey promptly, not selectively
  • Trust God’s commands lead to life

Reflection & Closing

Ask Yourself

  • Does my obedience reflect genuine love?
  • What step of obedience is God calling me to take?

“Teach me to do Your will.”
— Psalm 143:10
