Introduction

Consistent prayer must be accompanied by faith.

Prayer without faith easily becomes routine.

Faith believes:

• God hears.
• God cares.
• God responds.

Prayer is not wishful thinking.

It is confidence in God’s character and promises.

The Importance of Persistence

Many prayers are abandoned too soon.

Jesus told the parable of the persistent widow to teach perseverance in prayer.

Persistence demonstrates:

• Faith
• Dependence
• Trust
• Waiting Does Not Mean God Is Absent

God answers prayers in different ways:

Yes

Immediate answers.

Wait

God’s timing differs from ours.

No

Because He has something better.

Mature believers trust God’s wisdom regardless of the answer.

Biblical Illustration

Elijah prayed repeatedly for rain.

Though nothing appeared initially, he continued praying until breakthrough came.

The Attitude of Expectation

Prayer should be accompanied by expectation.

Not because of our worthiness, but because of God’s faithfulness.

Application

• Pray with confidence.
• Persist despite delays.
• Trust God’s timing.
