Confidence in Christ
Text: Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
“Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Introduction:
In a world where self-confidence is celebrated, Christians are called to build a deeper, unshakable confidence—not in ourselves, but in Christ. True confidence doesn’t come from abilities, appearances, or achievements. It is rooted in who Christ is, what He has done, and what He continues to do in us.
1. The Source of Our Confidence – Christ Alone
- Jeremiah 17:7 – “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him.”
- Confidence in Christ is not arrogance; it is trust. It is standing firm, knowing God is faithful to finish what He starts.
- He is the Author and Finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
2. Confidence Through Identity
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…”
- Our confidence grows as we understand our identity in Christ. We are redeemed, justified, chosen, and deeply loved.
- When you know whose you are, you won’t be shaken by what happens around you.
3. Confidence in Trials and Weakness
- 2 Corinthians 12:9 – “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
- Even in weakness, we can be confident because His strength works through us.
- Trials don’t destroy confidence in Christ—they refine it.
4. Confidence in Purpose and Calling
- Ephesians 2:10 – “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works…”
- God has a purpose for your life. When you walk in your calling, you can be confident that He will guide and equip you.
- You were not randomly created—you were strategically designed for impact.
Conclusion
Your confidence doesn’t have to depend on how things look or feel. It stands firm on the unchanging nature of Christ. He is your foundation, your strength, and your future.

Living with Confidence in Christ
Intro:
Many believers struggle with fear, doubt, and insecurity. But God’s Word offers us a better way: confidence grounded in Jesus Christ. This article explores how to build and maintain confidence that stands through life’s storms.
1. Confidence is Cultivated Through the Word
Romans 10:17 reminds us that “faith comes by hearing… the Word of God.” Confidence grows when you meditate on what God says about you.
2. Confidence Comes from a Renewed Mind
Romans 12:2 calls us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. Stop rehearsing your weaknesses and start speaking God’s truth.
3. Confidence Shows in How You Speak and Act
Walk and talk like someone who is backed by heaven. Speak with boldness, serve with joy, and act with assurance that Christ is with you.
4. Confidence Grows in Community
Surround yourself with people who encourage your faith and remind you of God’s promises. Iron sharpens iron.
Conclusion
Confidence in Christ is not a personality trait—it is a spiritual discipline. When you learn to lean on Him, trust His Word, and walk in your identity, you will find yourself standing taller and walking bolder.
