Introduction
Have you ever felt like life is just one endless routine? Wake up, work, pay bills, repeat. Some people exist like that for years, yet never feel truly alive. They breathe, but they’re empty inside. They move, but without purpose.
But Jesus didn’t come so we would merely exist. He said in John 10:10:
“I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
That word “life” in the original Greek is zoe. It’s not just survival. It’s not just physical breath. It’s God’s very own life—full, rich, overflowing, eternal. Today, I want to show you how to live the life God gives.
Point 1: Receive the Life Through Christ
The starting point is simple: we must receive life from Jesus. Without Him, we may look alive, but we’re spiritually dead. Ephesians 2:1 says, “You were dead in your transgressions and sins.”
Think of a phone without a charger. The screen might light up for a while, but without power, it dies. Humanity without Christ is the same—disconnected from the true source of life.
Step 1: Place your trust fully in Jesus. Not in money. Not in achievements. Not in relationships. Only in Him.
Point 2: Renew Your Mind Daily
Romans 12:2 reminds us: “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.”
The world will fill your mind with fear, doubt, and lies. But when you feed on God’s Word, He reshapes your thinking and gives you His perspective.
Illustration: If you plant good seeds in a garden but never water them, weeds will take over. Our minds are the same. If we don’t water them with Scripture, negativity and sin creep in.
Step 2: Open your Bible and pray every day. Let God’s truth become your default way of thinking.
Point 3: Walk in the Spirit, Not the Flesh
Galatians 5:25 says, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.”
This means God’s life is not just about Sunday services—it’s about letting the Holy Spirit guide every decision. Whether it’s how you handle conflict, how you spend money, or how you respond to temptation, the Spirit gives power to live differently.
Step 3: Pause and ask, “Holy Spirit, what would You have me do?” Obey His voice, even in the small things.
Point 4: Live with Kingdom Purpose
The life God gives is never meant to be hoarded—it’s meant to flow. Jesus said in Matthew 5:16: “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
When God’s life is in you, it should spill out into your relationships, your workplace, your community.
Illustration: A river that only takes in water but never lets it out becomes stagnant. But when water flows, it stays fresh and life-giving. So it is with us—when we live for God’s kingdom, our lives stay vibrant.
Step 4: Ask yourself daily: “Who can I encourage today? Who can I serve? How can my life point someone to Christ?”
Point 5: Abide in Christ Continually
Jesus said in John 15:5: “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
A branch cut off from the vine cannot survive. In the same way, the only way to keep living God’s life is to stay connected to Jesus—through prayer, worship, and obedience.
Step 5: Don’t just visit God on Sundays—abide in Him every day. Make Him your dwelling place, not just your weekend stop.
Conclusion
So how do we live the life God gives?
- Receive it through Christ.
- Renew your mind daily.
- Walk in the Spirit.
- Live with Kingdom purpose.
- Abide in Christ continually.
When we do these things, we don’t just exist—we truly live. And that life isn’t ordinary—it’s abundant, overflowing, and eternal.
