 Dependence On The Holy Spirit

Text: Galatians 5:16–25; Romans 8:13

Sermon

The Christian life is not meant to be lived by human effort. Holiness without the Holy Spirit leads to frustration.

The Holy Spirit is your helper, He empowers you to live the life God requires.

Many believers fail not because they don’t desire holiness, but because they rely on their own strength.

The flesh is strong, but the Spirit is stronger.

When you walk in the Spirit:

• Your desires begin to change
• Your sensitivity to sin increases
• Your ability to resist temptation grows
  
  The Holy Spirit does not force you, He leads you. You must choose to yield.

Biblical Illustration

The apostles in Acts were transformed after the Holy Spirit came. Peter, who once denied Jesus, became bold and fearless.

This shows:

• The Spirit produces transformation
• The Spirit gives power for holy living
• Deeper Insight

The Holy Spirit helps you by:

• Convicting you of sin
• Teaching you truth
• Empowering obedience

Application 

• Spend time daily in prayer
• Listen to the Spirit’s prompting
• Yield quickly when convicted
