Setting Godly Goals for the New Year

Setting Godly Goals for the New Year
Key Scriptures:
  • Proverbs 16:3
  • James 4:13–15
  • Colossians 3:23
  • Psalm 127:1

Goal-setting is common at the start of the year, but believers are called to set God-centered goals. Proverbs 16:3 reminds us to commit our plans to the Lord so they can be established according to His purpose.

James warns against making plans without acknowledging God’s sovereignty (James 4:13–15). Godly goals recognize that life is in God’s hands and that His will is greater than human ambition.

Whether spiritual, personal, or professional, our goals should be pursued with excellence for God’s glory (Colossians 3:23). Without God’s involvement, even the best plans can be fruitless (Psalm 127:1).

Reflection:

Godly goals are less about achievement and more about obedience and faithfulness.

Prayer:

Lord, guide my goals this year. Remove selfish ambition and replace it with a desire to glorify You in all I do. Amen.
