The Deceiver – Part 4: Crushing the Serpent’s Head

Series Title: The Deceiver – Unmasking Satan’s Tactics

Main Text: Genesis 3:15; Luke 10:19; Ephesians 6:10–18

Theme: Through Christ, believers have authority over Satan and the tools to overcome every deception and walk in truth.

 Introduction:

From the beginning, God declared victory over Satan. The seed of the woman—Jesus—would crush the serpent’s head. This prophecy has been fulfilled, and now every believer can walk in the power of that victory. In this final part, we learn how to live daily with authority over the Deceiver.

I. The Promise of Victory

Genesis 3:15 – “He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

  • This is the first messianic prophecy: the victory of Jesus over Satan.
  • The serpent’s bite causes suffering, but Christ’s death and resurrection crushed his authority.
II. Christ’s Victory is Our Victory

Luke 10:19 – “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions… nothing will harm you.”

  • Jesus gave His followers authority over all the power of the enemy.
  • We do not fight for victory but from victory.
  • The cross disarmed principalities and powers (Colossians 2:15).
III. Our Spiritual Armor

Ephesians 6:10–18

The armor of God enables us to stand against the devil’s schemes:

  • Belt of truth
  • Breastplate of righteousness
  • Gospel of peace (shoes)
  • Shield of faith
  • Helmet of salvation
  • Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)
  • Prayer and perseverance

Each piece protects us from specific types of deception.

IV. Living as Overcomers

Overcoming the Deceiver means:

  • Walking in daily truth
  • Rejecting the enemy’s lies
  • Standing firm in faith and obedience
  • Declaring God’s Word over your life
Application

Every believer is called to walk in authority, truth, and spiritual readiness. It’s not enough to know about the armor—we must wear it daily.

Reflection Questions
  1. Do you see yourself as victorious in Christ, or as a victim of spiritual attacks?
  2. What part of the armor do you most need to strengthen in your life?
  3. How can you stay spiritually alert and ready?
This Week’s Activity: “Victory Declaration”
  • Write a personalized declaration based on Luke 10:19 and Ephesians 6:10–18.
  • Declare it every morning this week.

Example: “I am clothed in God’s armor. I walk in truth, faith, and righteousness. The enemy has no hold over me in Jesus’ name!”

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for the victory You have given me. I choose to walk in that victory, fully clothed in Your armor. I reject every lie of the enemy and embrace Your truth. I stand firm in the power of Your Word and Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Series Summary

This four-part journey has exposed the enemy’s lies and equipped us to overcome through truth, discernment, renewal, and spiritual authority. Live as a victor—not a victim. The serpent is crushed. Stand firm in Christ!
