The Sight of His Glory

The Sight of His Glory

There are moments in Scripture when God allows people to see His glory, not fully, but enough to change them forever. These moments are rare, intentional, and always transformative. The sight of His glory is never just about vision. It is about revelation.

When Moses asked God, “Please, show me Your glory,” he was not asking for spectacle. He was asking to know God more deeply. God answered, but on His own terms.

“You cannot see My face; for no man shall see Me, and live.” — Exodus 33:20 (NKJV)

God hid Moses in the cleft of the rock and allowed him to see only His passing goodness. Even that partial glimpse marked Moses so strongly that his face shone when he came down the mountain.

“So when Moses came down from Mount Sinai… Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.” Exodus 34:29

The glory of God leaves evidence. It changes how a person carries themselves. It leaves traces that others can see.

Glory Revealed, Not Controlled

Human nature wants to capture glory, explain it, or recreate it. But God’s glory is not something we summon. It is something He reveals.

“In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple.” — Isaiah 6:1

“So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips.’” Isaiah 6:5

The sight of God’s glory exposes us. It shows us who He is and who we are not. Yet it does not leave us in despair. God cleanses Isaiah and then sends him. Glory leads to calling.

Glory Made Visible in Christ

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14

Jesus is the clearest sight of God’s glory the world has ever seen. Not through thunder, but through humility. Not through distance, but through nearness.

“His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.” — Matthew 17:2

Seeing His Glory Today

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory.” 2 Corinthians 3:18

“They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads.” Revelation 22:4
