The Word

The Word

The Bible opens with God speaking. Before there was shape or light or life, there was a voice. Scripture makes it clear that creation did not begin with motion, but with a command. Everything we know starts with the Word.

Christians use that phrase in two main ways: the spoken word of God and the living Word who is Jesus Christ. Both forms reveal God’s character, will, and purpose. Both lead us to understand who God is and how we are meant to live.

The Word as Revelation

God’s Word does not exist to confuse us. It reveals. When God speaks, He uncovers truth that we could not discover on our own. His Word cuts through noise, fear, and uncertainty. It calls people out of darkness and shows them a better way.

The Word as Power

In Scripture, the Word carries force. It creates, commands, heals, corrects, restores, and judges. When God speaks, action follows. His Word is not empty talk. It is effective, steady, and unstoppable.

The Word as Person

The New Testament shifts everything by identifying Jesus as the living Word. He is not only the messenger but the message. He embodies everything God has ever said about Himself. If you want to know God’s character, look at Jesus. If you want to understand what God desires, listen to Jesus.

The Word in Us

Believers are called to receive the Word, hold to it, and let it reshape the inner life. When the Word takes root, it grows conviction, courage, clarity, and endurance. It turns faith from an idea into movement.
