Feeding on God’s Word

Feeding on God’s Word

No believer can grow spiritually without consistent intake of God’s Word. Many Christians struggle not because they lack desire, but because they lack nourishment. The Bible is not optional—it is essential.

Jesus declared:

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” — Matthew 4:4

Spiritual starvation leads to weakness, confusion, and vulnerability to temptation.

Biblical Teaching

The Word produces growth.

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” – 2 Timothy 3:16–17

The Word cleanses:

“How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to Your word.”-Psalm 119:9

The Word strengthens:

“I have hidden Your word in my heart that I might not sin against You.” – Psalm 119:11

The Word builds faith:

“Faith comes from hearing the message.” – Romans 10:17

A tree planted by streams of water flourishes because it is constantly nourished.

“That person is like a tree planted by streams of water.” – Psalm 1:3

Without water, it withers. Without Scripture, believers weaken.

Application
  • Set a daily Bible reading plan
  • Meditate, not just read quickly
  • Apply what you learn

Reflection & Closing

Ask Yourself:

  • Is the Word shaping my thoughts and decisions?
  • How consistent am I in Scripture intake?

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.” – Colossians 3:16
