Discovering the Gifts God Has Placed in You
Text: Romans 12:6; 2 Timothy 1:6; Proverbs 18:16
Introduction
You cannot effectively use what you have not identified.
Many Christians know they have a purpose but remain uncertain about their gifts.
Discovering your gifts is part of discovering God’s design for your life.
God never intended believers to wander through life confused about their contribution.
How Gifts Are Discovered
1. Through Prayer
The Holy Spirit reveals what God has placed within you.
Many discoveries happen during seasons of seeking God.
2. Through Service
Some gifts are discovered while serving.
Many people find their calling while simply helping where there is a need.
3. Through Confirmation
Others often recognize your gifting before you do.
Consistent affirmation from mature believers can be significant.
4. Through Passion
God frequently places strong desires connected to your assignment.
What burdens your heart?
What excites you?
What opportunities energize you rather than drain you?
Biblical Illustration: Timothy
Paul reminded Timothy:
“Stir up the gift of God which is in thee.”
The gift was already there, but it needed development.
Many gifts remain dormant because they are neglected.
The Danger of Ignoring Your Gift
Unused gifts:
- Become stagnant.
- Produce frustration.
- Delay Kingdom impact.
A buried gift blesses nobody.
Deeper Insight
God reveals gifts progressively.
You may not see the full picture immediately.
Faithfulness with small opportunities often leads to greater clarity.
Application
- Pray for revelation concerning your gifts.
- Serve wherever opportunities arise.
- Pay attention to areas where God consistently uses you.
- Develop what God has placed in your life.
Shalom
