Loving Difficult People
Introduction
Everyone finds it easy to love kind, agreeable people. The real test of Christlike love is how we treat those who hurt us, misunderstand us, or oppose us. Jesus calls His followers to a love that defies human logic.
“Love your enemies. — Luke 6:27
This command is impossible without God’s grace.
Biblical Teaching
Jesus modeled love toward those who opposed Him.
“While we were enemies, we were reconciled to God. — Romans 5:10
Christlike love refuses revenge.
“Do not repay evil for evil.”— Romans 12:17–21

A thermostat changes the environment; a thermometer only reflects it. Christlike love changes the atmosphere rather than reacting to it.
Application
- Pray for those who are difficult
- Respond with kindness instead of retaliation
- Trust God to work in hearts
Reflection & Closing
Ask:
- Who do I struggle to love?
- How can I reflect Christ in that relationship?
“Overcome evil with good.”— Romans 12:21
