The Gift of People

Introduction

God doesn’t just give stuff — He gives people. And you’re one of them.

Key Verse: Ephesians 4:11-12

“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service…”

1. People Are God’s Gifts

God answers prayers with people.

When the world needed help, He sent Jesus.

When you need help, He might send a mentor, pastor, friend, or even YOU to someone else.

Example: Jesus (John 3:16) — The greatest gift to humanity was a person — not money, not power — a person.

2. God Sends People to Help

Example: Moses (Exodus 3:10) — Israel prayed for help, and God sent Moses. God could’ve snapped His fingers — but He used a person.

Example: David (1 Samuel 17) — David stepped up and killed Goliath — not because he was the biggest, but because he was available.

3. You’re a Gift Too

Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden.”

You’re not here by accident. You have purpose. You matter.

Romans 12:6 — “We all have different gifts, according to the grace given to us…”

You don’t have to be like anyone else. Just be you — that’s the gift.

4. Recognize the People God Sends

Example: Elisha and the Shunammite woman (2 Kings 4:9) — She recognized the gift in Elisha and made space for him.

Don’t push away people God sends to help you just because you don’t “get them” yet.

Mark 6:4 — Jesus was rejected in His hometown. Familiarity can make you blind to someone’s value.

5. What Should We Do?
  1. Honor the gifts around you — teachers, youth leaders, pastors, and friends.
  2. Be the gift — your encouragement or prayer might change someone’s life.
  3. Ask God to help you see people right — not everyone is your assignment. But someone is.
Challenge

Who are the people God’s placed in your life right now?

Who might God be asking you to be a gift to?

Don’t wait until you “feel ready” — show up now.

Prayer

“God, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my life. Help me recognize the ones You’ve sent to help me grow, and help me be a gift to others. I want to be available, real, and ready. Use me to make a difference. Amen.”
