Discovering God’s Purpose in Your Work
Text: Proverbs 16:3; Matthew 5:16; 1 Corinthians 10:31
God cares about your work. Many believers separate “spiritual life” from “professional life,” but God desires to be involved in every area of your life.
Work was established by God before the fall of man. Adam was given responsibility in the garden before sin entered the world.
This means:
- Work is not a curse
- Purposeful labor is part of God’s design
Your job is more than a paycheck—it is an opportunity to:
- Represent Christ
- Influence people
- Serve with integrity
- Reflect God’s excellence
The problem is that many people work without purpose. They see work only as survival.
But when you understand God’s purpose in your work, your perspective changes.
You begin to realize:
- Your workplace is ministry ground
- Your excellence can glorify God
- Your integrity is a testimony
Biblical Illustration
Joseph served faithfully in Potiphar’s house and even in prison. Though his circumstances were difficult, he remained diligent and faithful.
Eventually, his faithfulness positioned him for leadership in Egypt.
This teaches us:
- God can use your work process to prepare you for purpose
- Faithfulness in hidden places matters
