“The woman said, ‘I know that Messiah’ (called Christ) ‘is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.’ Then Jesus declared, ‘I, the one speaking to you—I am he.'”
John 4:25-26
Introduction
When we meet Jesus face to face—whether spiritually or emotionally—our lives are never the same. Jesus sees our hearts, knows our past, and still offers grace, truth, and transformation.
Main Bible Passage
John 4:1–26 (The Samaritan Woman at the Well)
Teaching Points
1. Jesus Meets Us Where We Are (John 4:6-9)
Jesus met the woman in Samaria, a place Jews normally avoided. She came to draw water alone—likely due to shame or rejection. Jesus initiated the conversation despite cultural and gender boundaries.
Life Application: Jesus doesn’t wait for us to “have it all together.” He meets us in our brokenness.
Discussion Prompt: Where is a place you feel like you “hide” or avoid God?
2. Jesus Knows Us Deeply (John 4:16-18)
Jesus revealed the woman’s past with five husbands and her current situation. He didn’t expose her to condemn her—but to bring truth and freedom.
Life Application: Jesus sees all of you—the good, the bad, and the hidden—and still loves you.
3. Jesus Offers Living Water (John 4:10-14)
Jesus offered something better than what she came for—eternal satisfaction. The “living water” represents His Spirit, presence, and eternal life.
Life Application: Only Jesus truly satisfies our deepest thirst.

4. Jesus Reveals His Identity Personally (John 4:26)
He revealed Himself as the Messiah directly to her—something He rarely did in public. The encounter was personal, not religious—transformative, not transactional.
Conclusion: What Happened Next? (John 4:28-30, 39-42)
She left her water jar (symbolic of leaving her old life) and became a witness. A true encounter with Jesus leads to change and impact—you won’t stay the same.
